SAVOR Gordon Ramsay Burger
Is a $24 burger worth your time and money? The answer may surprise you
If you have watched reality TV or have been to a fair number of restaurants, chances are that you know who Gordon Ramsay is.
To say that the British chef has an empire is almost an understatement. Ramsay has been behind two dozen TV series (including the U.S. version of Hell’s Kitchen, which began in 2005 and still runs), and owns or has owned almost 100 culinary spots worldwide.
Restaurant-wise, I had only been to Gordon Ramsay Steak in Las Vegas. Even though that visit was several years ago (pre-COVID), I still remember that sticky toffee pudding that came with brown butter ice cream in the shape of a stick of butter; then, I spread the ice cream over the pudding, resulting in a dish that might make you commit an illegal act to get another.
Within Chicago, there is Gordon Ramsay Burger—a River North spot that has gourmet sandwiches—including elevated burgers and the Chicago Dawg, among other items—but which also has soups and salads and even craft cocktails (e.g., the White Peach Cosmopolitan and the delightful Tropic Thunder, made with Barrilito Rum, pineapple, peach and citrus).
Now, I have heard various opinions of the menu items, with some praising the options while others saying they taste okay and are not worth the price (with burgers being $18-$24 without sides/fries that add another $7-$12 to the tab).
